Teachers are the backbone of our society and needless to say one can’t be a formal teacher without a formal education and training and that too a quite intense one. We must understand that students who are aspiring to be teachers are also students. But since we are talking about lockdown and the impact that shook the whole education industry irrespective of the course as all the students who were aspiring to be the backbone of our society, while they were reading about how the online methods are the future and the moment lockdown happened there was a stark realization that the future that we used to talk about and how to adapt to it is long gone cause the future is at our doorstep and it is screaming that the future is now. What it did was it turned around remote learning for millions of children in an incredibly short span of time and now the entire education community has undergone a crash course in the use of an array of platform.
The aftermath of online education and countering the digital divide
This also showed the chinks of weakness in our armoury as the students who are in remote areas as well as teachers who are teaching them faced the digital divide, as one was not able to access it and the other would not be able to use it to the absolute limit. The impact of the crisis has brought into sharp focus the importance of access to digital technology and connectivity to support all young people learning. The vast majority of us have stepped up to the crisis and made it in to the opportunity so that we can transform our classrooms into online learning modules almost overnight. While the crisis has forced a major leap forward for education into fully embracing digital technology but again it is very important that the government take some initiative in this field so that the digital divide can be countered. The aforementioned also taught our students the importance of adapt and overcome and we did the impossible by shifting our education to the various platforms like WEBEX and Microsoft Teams but the other thing that emerged as a major problem is how to make sure the students get the same quality education like they used to and how to make it more interesting cause let us face the ugly truth that though the perks of online education is boring it is one the boring side of the spectrum.

The solution to the aforementioned problem is based on following some simple steps, like providing daily quizzes, and proving reading material so that they can prepare for them, or make a scheme on marking performance for class participation and making it mandatory to turn on the camera while participating. We must also adapt our teaching style into very much interactive cause you can afford boring lectures offline but interaction is the key to success while teaching online.
